We are a network of researchers, urban development practitioners, and educators dedicated to advancing cultural development through scholarly inquiry and practice across diverse urban contexts. Collectively, our academic and professional experience in this field spans over four decades. Our expertise encompasses a broad range of disciplines, related to cultural policies and development.
The Cultural Cities Research Institute (CCRI) serves as a hub for academic collaboration, integrating existing scholarly and cultural resources to foster interdisciplinary synergies. Our mission is to advance the study of art and culture in urban environments while facilitating the practical application of research through strategic consultation for policymakers and cultural stakeholders.
As practitioners committed to cultivating vibrant and creative urban milieus, we actively promote cross-cultural exchange, showcasing global artistic expressions and connecting them with international audiences. Our initiatives also explore the intersection of art and technology, leveraging digital innovations to foster new artistic forms and cultural experiences.
Established in 2021, CCRI is an international nonprofit organization based in Chicago. Situated in the city’s northwestern suburbs, we embrace the region’s natural landscape while remaining deeply engaged with Chicago’s dynamic urban and cultural ecosystems. CCRI collaborates with scholars and professionals across the American Midwest and is actively developing partnerships with leading academic and cultural institutions in Chicago and beyond.
